The advancement and empowerment of Latinos/as in higher education is an important part of the mission of the NASPA Latino Knowledge Community. Through Blogging La Voz, we provide you resources and updates, in addition to what we provide through the newsletter. From this, we hope you will continue the dialogue that we believe to be important to the continued progress of our community.

Multicultural Institute

If you are interested as serving as a program reviewer for the upcoming Multicultural Institute please see the post below.

The NASPA Multicultural Institute will take place December 10-12, 2009 at the Hyatt Regency Dallas in Dallas, Texas. NASPA invites you to get involved in the planning of this year’s institute by volunteering as a program reviewer. The institute call for programs will close on July 17th.

Our theme for this year’s institute is Strengthening Connections for Strategic Multicultural Leadership. The institute planning committee is seeking sessions that explore the following topics within this theme:
  • Multicultural education with a new generation;
  • Leadership strategies for multiculturalism.;
  • The changing face of higher education across different types of institutions, particularly community colleges and urban institutions;
  • Assessing student demographics.
The complete call for programs is available at http://www.naspa.org/programs/multi/cfp.cfm. If you’d like to volunteer as a program reviewer, please email Danielle Howard, NASPA graduate intern, at dhoward@naspa.org with your first name, last name, title, institution, and KC for which you’d like to review proposals. We anticipate each volunteer will receive no more than 4 to 5 proposals to review. Reviewer assignments will be shared in late July.
